Next Rapid Collection Workshop

The next Rapid Collection Workshop will be on Wednesday, April 29th at 10am at the Cultural Centre.

Rapid Collection Workshops at Timiskaming First Nation are focused, collaborative sessions designed to quickly record and preserve Anishinābemowin vocabulary with speakers and knowledge holders. These workshops prioritize capturing words, meanings, pronunciations, and example usage in an efficient and respectful way, helping to build practical language resources for learners and teachers.

Community members work directly with speakers to collect the words on our dictionary platform together with multimedia including pronunciations, videos, and photos. These workshops also create space for speakers to guide how language is documented and shared, ensuring that materials reflect community knowledge, preferences, and priorities.
